SAL was set up by a group of volunteers from the music industry several years ago who could see there was a definite need for an organisation to help those who were suffering from illness and/or hardship.
As SAL It currently receives no Government funding itis reliant on donations and fundraising events.

Armageddon - Sleight of Hand (Reign Records)
When it all comes down to it, Sleight of Hand are simply a powerfully devoted heavy rock band – one that brings an openly defiant attitude to the table that is met and matched with heavy grooves and addictive melodies. Their percussive and tactile approach to song writing, combined with their honest and passionate lyrics create a primal energy that sets the stage for a high impact live show. “This debut EP rocks hard and heavy” – Blunt magazine.
Save Me Compression - The Volcanics (Out Of The Loop Records)
White hot rock 'n' roll hailing from the same thunderstorm that gave birth to The Victims and The Scientists, and drawing influences from The Rockets and The Bamboos. The Volcanics formed late 2002, intent on playing stripped back rock ’n’ roll with no hype attached. Having already released their debut ep “Nothin For You” and another 4 tracks on the compilation “Light The Fuse’ 2006 is looking good, with the band ready to unleash their Lindsay Gravina (Jet, Magic Dirt and The Living End) produced self titled debut album.
Featuring the Giants trademark Psyche-rock and groove, their new album ”Here is the Punishment” is a leap forward in both scope and execution. Featuring piano, organ, massed harmonies, banjo and a huge palette of gut wrenching guitar sounds – the album is guaranteed to garner an even wider audience base then present.
Scott Macarthur was performing in The Salvation Army band at a nursing home when Etienne Mamo who was visiting the nursing home, caught Scott’s version of the Bowie classic “rebel rebel”, conversation flowed and a band was born.
Scott and Etienne share lead vocals giving the band plenty of depth. Mixing up influences from the Buzzcocks, Urge Overkill and The Clash, The New Black manage to find a unique sound all their own.
All The Way displays the buzz saw guitars, rich melodies and straight up lyrics that define The New Black.
“Oh The Romance” is Iron On’s most accessible and concise recording thus far. The band has recorded the sort of album you can BBQ to: big on guitars, big on choruses and big on melody. Hardly more mature, but definitely their finest work to date.
Radioraja was conceived almost 3 years ago when long-lost highschool friends Raj Siva-Rajah and Andrew Maitland reunited during the consumption of alcoholic beverages in an old Irish pub. Thus began a love/hate creative partnership which continues to this day. The result? Poetic rock with the energy of Pearl Jam and the dark undertone of Radiohead…
What’s the recipe to cook Nardo? Take the rock of Hendrix, the melodies of Coldplay, the blues of Ben Harper, the mixed up pop of Crowded House, the groove of the Police and throw in a pinch of the Beatles backing vocals. Bake for about twelve months in a rehearsal room and serve with a glass of your favourite tipple. Morning Sun (MGM) is the first single off Nardo’s forth coming album and will be launched on March 2nd at The Vanguard, Sydney.
Melbourne singer-songwriter Rich Webb delivers thumping wired alternative rock one minute, the tenderist urban corkscrew ballad the next. His is an alarmingly inspired concoction, held together by a voice that howls and shimmies like a dust storm from the Mallee desert. Rolling Stone says Webb is like Dylan, Nick Cave , and Matthew Sweet. We reckon he's got his own line in dark pop. Don’t Feel So Sad is the lead track from latest album “Overboard” and was released as a single in Holland and Belgium in January.
A slice of fem-powered rock-pop inspired by a ‘crappy wifey day’ from husband-wife-brother band whose eponymous debut album Rave Magazine described as ‘a corker’ that ‘walks a knife-edge between strident, hooky guitar riffs and atmospheric, piano-led shadows, the two extremes bridged with aplomb by the sultry, melodic vocals of Eva Fritz’. Time Off went further awarding 4.5/5 stars and declaring the album ‘a lavish and romantic concoction of vivid musicality…lyrical treasures and cerebral caresses… reminiscent of the more creative of our Brisbane music legends.’
Tiptoes gains support from a great new video and national dates throughout the year. The Tonights could well be the slow-burn band of 2006 and beyond.
Josh orange are a Sydney based 5 piece indie pop/rock band.
The band are fronted by Irish singer Gordon Burke (Dublin) aka josh orange , who had some success fronting Sydney band “Oblivia” a few years back, the other band members come from varied backgrounds and are all Australian boys.
The band have played lots of shows around Sydney over the past few months in support of their first single “Spirit Guide” (independent), it has been received well with airplay on a lot of Community radio stations, as well as FBI and Sea FM.
Superman is the bands second single taken from their forth coming album “Big Day Tomorrow”, at less than 3 minutes 35 seconds, fast and infectious, it is an obvious choice for a single.
Glister is an energetic female-fronted rock group based in the Blue Mountains , NSW. The band plays a range of melodic guitar-based music, from gently layered intricate rock through to catchy up-beat pop, all immersed in Samantha’s sparkling vocals. The band has been described as ‘hypnotic rock / power-pop'.
Glister released their first album, “Be There Soon” toward the end of 2005 which includes the track Waking Up. The song buzzes like an alarm clock while the band smashes the monotony of everyday life into an entertaining, and powerful song.
The CD was written, recorded and mastered in the Blue Mountains.
Dynamic Melbourne trio Three Letter Word burst onto the original music scene in March 2005, playing their style of melodic rock/pop at regular gigs in both Melbourne and country venues. They have two independent releases.
The song Therapy is from the EP of the same name. Musically it could be described as “Evanescence meets Linkin Park ”. Lyrically, it’s about other people not really knowing you but thinking they know how you could live your life better and disregarding your own uniqueness.
Word is out on Leanne Kingwell’s debut solo album, ‘New Tatoo’. And the word is good.
MAG (Music Australia Guide) reckons it’s 'Assertive songwriting of the highest order. Highlights abound on every track...'
Off the Record say, 'A huge talent... Sensational.'
Long-time album reviewer, Billy Pinnell, '... Passionate, powerful, sexy. One of the most exciting albums released in the last decade.'
Not bad raps for a rebellious catholic schoolgirl who started off in the early nineties, playing bass, singing and writing with cult Melbourne grunge outfit, ‘Happy Gas Stare’.
Lastelle is singer / songwriter chris lastelle, on lead vocals, guitars and keyboards and his band.
His debut album “This Is What I Do” is a statement of desire and intent, reflecting lastelle’s commitment to his craft, writing, arranging and producing an album of songs that connect emotionally with lastelle’s world.
The song This Is What I Do lyrically is a window of what goes on in my head (gettin’ scary now). It’s my description on what it’s like writing music & songs.
