SHADOW - CREAM
On Friday, Perth rapper Shadow started the biggest tour of his life supporting Hilltop Hoods and dropped his debut EP “Cream” on Golden Era Records.
22-year-old rapper Shadow moved from Durban, South Africa to Perth Australia in 2008. Two years later he picked up a mic for the first times inspired by classic hip hop artists like Big L and Nas.
Over the last 8 years, he shaped his sound to an aggressive UK inspired Grime delivery that is both fierce and lyrical.
At the same time, he began to hone his live stage show, playing over 100 shows, at times underage sneaking into 18+ venues. He has supported for the likes of Dirty Dike, Jam Baxter and the rest of High Focus along with The Four Owls, D Double D & Preditah to name a few.
Now heading out on a nearly sold-out arena tour with hip-hop kings, Hilltop Hoods, Shadow is not taking the opportunity for granted.
“It’s crazy, they were the first bit of Oz Hip Hop I heard when I moved here in 2008. A few years later I am touring with them. It’s hands down the biggest accomplishment of my life so far and I am still having trouble believing it.” - Shadow
In 2018 he announced his signing with iconic Australian rap label ‘Golden Era Records’ formed by Hilltop Hoods and boasting a roster of some of the best hip hop in the country including A.B. Original, The Funkoars, Jesswar, K21 and more.
His new EP, CREAM, available now, is the culmination of several years of work.
“It’s just how I felt through that time period, no sugar coating”
The impact isn’t hard to see with hundreds of thousands of streams on the first few singles.
The EP features all Perth guests including Jaycee and Jose Halftime. It was mixed and mastered by Perth staple Rob Shaker.
Cream is out now through Golden Era.
