THE BASICS - LAND OF 1000 DANCES

1 – 2 – 3 check 1 – 2 – 3
The Basics are, well... back to basics!

After a considerable break from touring and recording, THE BASICS are back with their new album "B.A.S.I.C."

Specially produced for the band's loyal fan base, B.A.S.I.C. is an album of songs (wink, wink) – many of them classic rock, pop, rhythm 'n' blues, and soul tunes the band has performed over the years at their hugely popular live shows. The album, recorded in a barn studio in Victoria's Western Port District, has been entirely put together from go-to-whoa by the three members of the band, Kris Schroeder, Tim Heath and Wally De Backer: from the repertoire, to the studio setup, recording, production, mixing and all the way through to the presentation – all of these elements combining to bring us what is the purest vision of the band to date.

B.A.S.I.C. was launched with a one-off gig at the wonderful, recently-refurbished Gershwin Room at Melbourne's fabled Esplanade Hotel in St. Kilda late in November (after a secret warm-up gig at The Old Bar earlier in the week as well). Fans filled the rooms and snapped up the album – available exclusively on CD, 12" vinyl and cassette – at the venue and online via Bandcamp.

The incredible response and support has resulted in the album reaching the Top of AIR's 100% Indie Charts in Australia the first week of December 2019 – the first week of the Australian Summer.

And only turning up the heat further, a feature song from the album – the classic “Land Of 1000 Dances” is being released across all streaming services globally on Friday, December 6th. The song was written and recorded by US artist Chris Kenner in 1962. The “na-na-na-na-na” hook was added to the 1965 version recorded and released by Cannibal & The Headhunters which reached the Top 30 on the Billboard Charts. The song went on to also be covered by Wilson Pickett, who had his biggest chart hit with it in 1966. The song has since been covered by a wide variety of artists and used in countless TV and movie productions. It is a certified classic "get up off your feet and start movin'-and-groovin'" tune.

The Basics' version is a strong indicator of the powerful and rich sound of this new album from the band, with this song featuring the vocals of drummer Wally De Backer. The album selection includes other classics, as well as some favourite originals with all three members taking turns to do lead vocals. B.A.S.I.C. is also a great showcase for the band's brilliant harmony vocals as well.

The Basics - B.A.S.I.C is out now, Land of 1000 Dances is out this Friday.
