AIR ANNOUNCES CARLTON DRY INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARD NOMINEES

The Australian Independent Record Labels Association today reveals the nominees for the 2015 Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards.

Ten years on from the Awards’ humble beginnings, 2015’s nominees represent the finest Australian independent music from the last 12 months, with the awards spanning a range of genres including jazz, classical, blues and roots, country, hip hop, hard rock/punk and dance/electronica.

Leading up 2015’s nominations is Sydney duo Hermitude, winners of the 2012 Best Independent Dance/Electronica Album for ‘Hyperparadise’, appearing four times with nominations for Best Independent Artist, Best Independent Single/EP for ‘The Buzz (Feat. Mataya & Young Tapz)’, and chart topping album ‘Dark Night Sweet Light’ is up for Best Independent Album and Best Independent Dance/Electronic Album.

Other previous winners Courtney Barnett (Best Independent Artist 2014) and Vance Joy (Breakthrough Independent Artist 2013 & Best Independent Single/EP 2013 for ‘God Loves You When You’re Dancing’) along with #1 Dads round out the main nominations – all up for three awards in 2015.

The choice award of the evening, Best Independent Artist, sees nominees Courtney Barnett, Hermitude, #1 Dads, Vance Joy and Chet Faker as contenders for the revered title.

Another big point of interest on the night is the Breakthrough Independent Artist Of The Year Award, with recent winners Sheppard, Vance Joy and Chet Faker, having all gone on to international success. This year’s nominees are #1 Dads, Briggs, Client Liaison, Japanese Wallpaper and Totally Mild.

Presented in partnership with Naming Rights Partner, Carlton Dry, and supported by Major Partner, Rdio this year’s awards will be presented on Thursday 22nd of October at Meat Market, North Melbourne with performers to be announced shortly.
