MILK! RECORDS

Winner of the 2015 Carlton Dry Independent Label of the Year Award, Milk! Records, was started by Courtney Barnett in 2012 to release her debut EP I've Got A Friend Called Emily Ferris.

Since then it's become home to six more Melbourne based bands/artists. The label is artist run and happy to stay boutique and sustainable. Jen Cloher says "it's really just a bunch of friends helping each other to release records."

Key releases over the past few years include the two Milk! Records compilation albums. A Pair of Pears (with Shadows) 2014 and Good For You 2016. Both compilations feature a song from each of the artists on the label and this year Milk! Records took to the road for the very first time and toured the Good For You compilation album. Six bands in one school bus along the East Coast.

In 2015 Milk! Records released four debut albums, Courtney Barnett's Sometimes I Sit And Think and Sometimes I Just Sit, Fraser A. Gorman's Slow Gum, Ouch My Face's Bunyip and The FinksLucklaster. A big year!

The newest band to join the label is Loose Tooth who just released their debut EP Saturn Returns.

While there may not be any more releases scheduled for 2016, all Milk! Records acts will all be focusing on writing and recording new albums this year. 2017 is set to be a big year! We’re proud to have Milk! Records as an AIR Label Member
